Thank you for visiting Los Angeles Dealer School's website!  Since January 1, 1998 the State of California requires that applicants for a used car dealer license take a State approved class on the laws that regulate the car business, as well as pass the dealer's test at the DMV. 

We are approved by the State to provide such classes.  The law requires that the class be 6 hours in length.  At the end of the class we will issue you a certificate of completion.  This certificate will allow you to take the dealer's test at the DMV.

About the DMV test:

DMV inspectors give the dealer's test by appointment only.  It consists of 40 multiple-choice questions.  A passing score is 70% or at least 28 questions right out of the 40.  We prepare our students very well for this test as indicated by students reporting back to us with very high passing scores and indicating that they really impressed the DMV inspector.

We feel that it is our law degrees, teaching credentials and status as licensed auto dealers that makes our school stand out as superior to other schools you will find on the DMV list.  We have translated the legal jargon into an easy to understand class.

 

Why you should take our class before meeting your other requirements?

You probably have your license application package from the DMV in front of you.  You have a laundry list of requirements to fulfill, and the task may seem very confusing, frustrating and borderline impossible.  One of your requirements is to take a dealer education class, and you should do this first because we spend a tremendous amount of time in class on how you can easily meet the MINIMUM requirements you have in front of you. 

We will help you cut through all of the confusion and red tape, so that you can get down to business.

 

In class, we will also fill your arms with useful handouts - lists of auctions, lists of DMV Inspectors, easy-to-follow handouts on how to sell a car step-by-step.  We also give you a handout that shows you how to get a dealer license step-by-step.  We give you certain forms that you cannot get from forms companies.  During breaks or after class, we provide very useful auction tips.  For an example of a tip, see our "Weekly Auction Tip" on this website.
